Contacts appearing as greyed out on your iPhone can be due to various reasons, including:

  • iCloud Sync Issues
  • Incomplete Contact Information
  • Deleted or Disabled Accounts
  • Contact Merge Conflicts
  • Permissions Issues
  • iOS Bugs or Glitches
  • Corrupted Contacts

But don’t worry. If you are experiencing the “contacts grayed out on iPhone” issue, please try the following methods to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  • Check iCloud Sync
  • Update iOS
  • Check Display Settings
  • Remove and Re-add Accounts
  • Manually Edit Contacts
  • Restart your iPhone

Although there are some useful methods to solve this problem, you’d better back up your contacts regularly to avoid data loss. Here it’s strongly recommended to use FoneTool – a free and safe iPhone backup tool.

In addition to backing up your contacts, FoneTool also offers the ability to securely back up your music, messages, photos, videos, and more. When initiating the recovery process, it is important to note that, unlike iTunes, this method does not delete your current data.
